Helen's idyllic life – a handsome architect husband, a beautiful Victorian house, and finally, the long-awaited baby on the way – takes an unexpected turn after she attends a prenatal class for the first time. There, she meets Rachel, an unpredictable future single mother. Rachel does not exhibit much maternal behavior: she smokes, drinks, and shows little interest in parenting. Yet, Helen feels drawn to her. Maybe Rachel just needs a friend. And honestly, Helen feels a bit lonely too. With Rachel, at least there’s fun. She can make Helen laugh and instill trust in her.
