One day, eight-year-old Hani finds an injured fox in the forest. With her grandfather, she brings it home, cares for it, and names the fox Merit. A strong bond forms between her and the little girl; they walk through the forest together, telling each other legends of the North, with Hani doing most of the talking while Merit listens attentively. But then it becomes clear that the fox is in danger in the village due to the greed of a shaman and the superstitions of hunters, so Hani decides to take her away and save her...
