Description
Journalist Jack McEvoy is used to writing about the deaths of others. But then his brother Sean, an investigator from the Denver homicide department, dies, and the subsequent events draw McEvoy into the story. Unlike the police, he does not believe that his brother committed suicide and begins to investigate the circumstances of the case on his own. Over time, he gathers information about several similar deaths that have occurred in various places across the United States. Everything suggests that he is on the trail of a serial killer marked by unprecedented cruelty and cunning. His victims are mostly homicide investigators whose careers or psyches have been affected by some unresolved case. Next to the mutilated bodies lies the killer's calling card: quotes from the works of Edgar Allan Poe. McEvoy's brother was the last victim in the series. Or perhaps not. Perhaps the last victim of the poet will be him…
