This Czech-language fantasy mystery pits the eccentric investigator Ana Dolabrova against an apparently all-knowing adversary. In the city of Folidol, on the very edge of the Empire, an official of the Banking Administration vanishes from a room at the top of a heavily guarded tower, with both doors and windows locked from the inside. The Empire calls upon its cleverest and most unconventional investigator, the renowned Ana Dolabrova, to solve the case, accompanied as always by her assistant Dinios Kol, who marvels at her brilliance and bluntness. Ana soon discovers that she is investigating not a disappearance but a murder committed by an exceptionally cunning opponent who can pass through locked doors like a ghost. Worse still, the killer appears to be planning an attack on the heavily guarded complex known as the Shroud, where the Empire extracts miraculous blood from fallen titans. If the Shroud falls, the Empire will lose the magic that keeps it running and may collapse. Din has witnessed his superior solve seemingly impossible cases before, but the number of victims is rising, the enemy anticipates her every move with astonishing foresight, and Din fears that Ana has finally met an opponent she cannot outwit.
