Description
This warm story about finding oneself unfolds against the background of an unconventional family. Seventeen-year-old Júko lives with her stepfather Morimija and leads a perfectly happy life—or so it may seem at first glance. Since birth, she has changed homes and surnames four times. Although her family has changed repeatedly, all her parents have surrounded her with love. They have given her much that is good, but some scars do not heal easily. This becomes especially clear during her busy final year of secondary school, when, alongside studying for entrance exams, several twists of fate force Júko to reconsider her values, her ideas about friendship and, not least, what all her parents have given her and perhaps taken away. Júko also experiences her first great love and begins building a family of her own, bringing one more challenge before her final change of surname: persuading Morimija to give his permission for her and her future husband to marry. The book’s contents are in Czech. More than one million copies have been sold in Japan.
