Can a journey to Santiago change a person's life, or will they return to where they started?

Nothing bad is happening to Marta. She has a good job, lives in a long-term relationship with Hynek, and loves his children from a previous marriage. She doesn't want her own children, and Hynek doesn't want any more either; they are in agreement on that. So what does she actually want to resolve? Why does she decide to embark on a ten-day journey full of discomfort and solitude when she was supposed to go to the sea with Hynek and the kids? Are her loved ones right to think that it's nonsense and that Marta should be living completely differently?

Petra Soukupová once again brilliantly explores the psyche of a female protagonist who finds herself at a point where she must deal not only with her own life but also with the expectations of those around her. Marta's narrative intertwines with the opinions and perspectives of her loved ones, opening up questions about the extent to which our idea of happiness is shaped by the pressure of those who surround us. And whether it is possible to recognize the moment when we still decide about our future ourselves and when it is already controlled by the certainties of the past and social conventions.
