This adventurous alternative history follows Hieronim Berbelek, once a great strategist, who can regain his former power only by finding his lost Form. In this world, the ideas of ancient Greek philosophers, led by Aristotle, have become reality: the Sun circles the Earth, matter consists of elements rather than atoms, beings of fire inhabit the Moon, flying pigs drift across the sky, xevry and tapalopy roam the land, and medoranges grow on trees. The world is shaped by the kratists, who impose their Form on landscapes and people. This clear hierarchy is disrupted by the Distortion, Skoliodoi, a chaos sown by mysterious visitors from outer space. Hieronim is called upon to lead the struggle against them. With the help of the mysterious Moon Seer, he seeks the support of powerful kratists and gathers the armies of Horror for a decisive battle. He ventures into the Twisted Realms, where strange creatures spread into the world and all familiar boundaries collapse. Gradually, however, he begins to suspect that everything may be entirely different from what he first believed. The adventure becomes a sophisticated political game and a struggle for power.
