Description
A book interview with a leading Czech thinker
Born into a communist family, he was active in alternative culture circles in the 1980s and helped establish the fields of political science and international relations in our country after 1989. Alongside this, he has always commented on current political and global events and written books in which he often introduced topics such as multiculturalism, feminism, or postcolonialism to the Czech context as one of the first. Pavel Barša has been and continues to be many things in life — a believing communist, a musician, a pub intellectual, an academic compradore, an imaginary Jew, a political philosopher… However, he is primarily a distinctive and original thinker who has influenced the domestic intellectual scene for several decades. Thus, when the book interview with Pavel Barša describes the past and present forms of his life, it simultaneously maps the development of political and social thought in the Czech Republic, the global crisis of liberalism, or the challenges posed by geopolitical conflicts and climate change.
