Her idea of what true love looks like changes and blurs dramatically. The community of sisters, too, must ask each day how it can return to its original mission in a changing world. This Czech-language novel offers readers a glimpse into a mysterious world normally inaccessible to them, whose everyday reality bears little resemblance to generally accepted ideas. Although its portrayal of convent life may at times seem distinctly unflattering, it judges no one. Above all, it is a portrait of human beings with all the light and darkness their existence contains. Finally, it is a fascinating love story, because human love is like an untamable, many-sided animal that persistently searches for a mate.
