Description
Let's relive the miracle called Semafor. With understanding. ***** The phenomenon of the Semafor theater emerged in the early sixties as a revelation that embodied the desire of Czechoslovak society for freedom and relaxation. The songs of the duo Jiří Suchý & Jiří Šlitr, just like the unrestrained spirit of the theater, quickly gained such popularity that the cautious media of the time resigned and accepted Semafor. The theater offered many things: new stars like Waldemar Matuška, Eva Pilarová, or Hana Hegerová, but also the unique non-acting of Suchý and Šlitr. Their songs became truly a property of the people, and "šlitrovky" firmly intertwined with everyday life across Czechoslovak society. ***** Pavel Klusák decided to experience the entire sixties with Semafor. With iconic plays like Jonáš and Tingltangl, Well-Paid Walk, or The Devil from Vinohrady, he delves into the stories of the Suchý and Šlitr era, but also looks outward to the cultural contexts of the time. After all, almost everyone who shaped the new culture in Czechoslovakia collaborated with the creators of Semafor.
