Description
"The Infinite Quatrain" of an underground legend. Where lies the key to the legend marked JHK? It would seem that it was created by unique forms plus decadence plus underground, but it’s more likely that what he uniquely writes about are matters generally understandable to all living beings and sometimes even thinking ones. A poet, to truly be one, must bear witness. But then there is another struggle. To wrestle with nothingness for at least a second, to snatch a shard from its all-consuming jaws, to make it one’s reality. That is the only thing that spirit & word can achieve, even if it is a futile fight, not a pointless one. The objection that the author repeats himself is therefore entirely unfounded. What else should he do? Krchovský's "infinite quatrain" surely weighs more than so-called literature and its ephemeral ambitions. "An afterlife story, or 'human'? / and what is truth, and what is lie? / no matter what I write, it is always / just a variation on the same theme."
