Description
We can never prepare for the death of our loved ones. However, it makes sense to try. In 2020, James Nwoye Adichie suddenly passed away. His unexpected death affected the entire family scattered around the world, including his daughter and global literary star Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. She wanted to pay tribute to her father, reminiscing lovingly about her wise and caring dad. She also wanted to express sympathy to all those who experienced a similar loss during the pandemic year and who, like her, had to cope with grief. Thus, the essay Notes on Grief was born, first published in The New Yorker, later expanded into a book form, in which Adichie reflects on feelings that we usually prefer not to think about.
