How a Norwegian comedian tried to become a mountain lover Are Kalvř grew up right in the middle of a postcard landscape in northwestern Norway, on a farm beneath the mountains that people travel half the planet to see. Yet, nature never drew him in. However, a few years ago, the mountains began to take over his friends, until one day he realized that all of his acquaintances had at least one photo of mountains on their social media. He started to think about it. What do they all see in nature? Out of curiosity, he set out into the mountains to find out what drives people to give up urban pleasures in their free time, invest outrageous amounts of money in hiking gear, trudge for eight hours in rain and fog, and spend evenings in stinky functional underwear in the company of equally odorous nature lovers in cabins with bizarre names like Mosquito Home, At the Ugly One, Raven's Nest, or Cat's Ass.
