Čistý, skromný život – Špaček Viktor (2022)

Stories shaped by the sensitive hands of a sculptor. A man who one evening, in slippers, opens the door and discovers that behind it stands his wife's lover, along with everything he tries to hide from himself. A sworn old bachelor who prides himself on his composure while feeling a vial of poison in his pocket. A forty-year-old accountant with a home like a little cage — or is it actually a prison? Although Viktor Špaček knows how to write vivid characters that we recognize from our own lives, these portrait-stories are not just about likenesses. Their ambition is also to portray a certain attitude that people adopt in specific life situations. The characters are mostly captured from within, from the realm of their thoughts, in which they process problems and traumas, successfully or unsuccessfully. The fact that they often can't see beyond the tip of their nose does not prevent them from being convinced of their own truth. The solutions they ultimately choose tend to be logical and could be described as 'normal.' However, it is also normal that madness is not far away.
