Enter Hyperborea, a mysterious towered city divided into seven levels. The absolutist ruler Basileus surrounds himself with powerful ministers who are to govern the city. The poorest residents live on the first level, while the wealthiest, who hold important political roles, reside on the seventh level. Nineteen-year-old Lastyanax has just completed his studies and become a mage. He is about to start climbing the power ladder gradually, but the mysterious death of his mentor Palates suddenly catapults him to the top. On a path full of political traps, he meets Arka, a young warrior raised by Amazons, who has only recently arrived in the city. She boasts a talent for finding a way out of very dangerous situations, which comes in handy, as they seem to attract her like a magnet. He is searching for his teacher's murderer, while she is looking for her father, whom she has never known. To overcome all the conspiracies threatening the city and find answers to their questions, they will have to learn to cooperate. They quickly find themselves caught in a whirlwind of intrigue and together begin to uncover the rot and corruption of the city.
