Description
The first modern edition of a Baroque treatise on the history of Moravia. The systematic scientific work of the Catholic priest Tomáš Pešina z Čechorodu (1629—1680) was for many years one of the main sources for understanding the regional history of Moravia. His Latin historiographical writings were preceded by the Czech-written Prodromus Moravographiae (1663), a comprehensive summary of dates and events related to Moravia and its surroundings, intended primarily for educated readers, for whom it served not only as a source of knowledge but also as a means of self-identification. Ondřej Koupil and Jiří M. Havlík present the first modern edition of Pešina's Prodromus, which they have enriched with detailed commentary, explanations, a glossary, and an index.
