"In the quarry of blue stone / the color is even deeper than pain," writes a young poet and painter in one of the emblematic verses of his second collection, the title of which refers to... But the perceptive reader will surely look that up. What matters is that this is a collection of strong imagery, an attempt at a "mature," holistic perception of reality, and a more mature faith, though not necessarily exclusively vertical faith. It holds true that the poet primarily seeks in the subtle (but also sharp) fractures of everyday life. The result is an urgent "alloy of fears and tenderness." Poetry of relationship, constant, beautiful attention! Matěj Lipavský (born 1985) studied at the AVU, is represented in the anthology Best Czech Poems 2015.
