The Dark Side of Rudé právo A grimy, crumbling world of workers' colonies, pubs, and scrap collection from the 1980s, inhabited by bizarre characters. Young Beny leaves home to escape his violent father and finds refuge in the quirky Fabrikant's scrap yard. Along with the disabled Hany, the drifter Julča, and his brother Víťan, they form a strange family, each with their own secrets and dark sides, but also that Hrabal-like pearl at the bottom. Beny needs to get out of compulsory military service, earn some money, find a job and housing, and most importantly, time to devote to his only passion — photography. What seems trivially simple today represented an adventure on the edge, or rather beyond the law, during the early 1980s of real socialism. Especially when you are barely twenty and not worrying too much about anything.
