Description
It is Midsummer's Eve, and the whole country is celebrating the summer solstice. In Jukkasjärvi, a village near Kiruna, the dead body of the local parish priest, Mildred Nilsson, is found. Someone has beaten her to death and hung her body beneath the church organ. Memories of the murdered priest Viktor Strandgård's case resurface. Rebecka Martinsson has undoubtedly experienced the worst moments of her life during that time. She was forced to shoot three people in self-defense, but the collapse comes only now. Rebecka's boss tries to prevent her breakdown and sends her with a colleague to Kiruna. There, Rebecka meets Pastor Stefan Wikström, Mildred's successor. She discovers a secret compartment with threatening letters addressed to the murdered priestess and realizes the hatred Mildred must have faced in her efforts to help women in distress. Inspector Anna-Maria Mella interrupts her maternity leave and sets out in search of the murderer. Then suddenly, Pastor Wikström disappears, and the situation escalates...
