Description
A dieselpunk novel set in an alternate history of World War II. Welcome to Prague in 1942—a city filled with the dieselpunk aesthetic of great machines and wild jazz parties, as well as the everyday fear of Nazi repression. Riders on hyper-modern Schlachthund motorcycles race through the streets, collaboration units plan to take Hitler's place, and the youth of Prague have succumbed to the germ of modern music. London has rejected the assassination of Reich Protector Heydrich and completely changed its strategy for supporting the Czechoslovak resistance. The remaining members of the parachute drops in Czechoslovakia must focus on new objectives. Zemek and Škácha from the Silver B drop, along with Kolařík from Out Distance, are tasked with contacting a living legend known as the 'Pious Gunslinger' and, in a secret operation codenamed 'Golem,' are to acquire plans for a futuristic weapon—a myth-laden machine resembling a mechanical man. However, the other side is, of course, also trying to obtain these plans. But do those legendary plans for constructing a mechanical Golem even exist? And if so, do these machines resemble at all the ideas that circulate about them?
