Description
The author's new novel takes readers to Hlučínsko, in the Czech-Polish border region. It is set in the near future, when the European Union becomes a federation. Smith Johan Kott and miner Truda Lassová live in houses under the Landek rock on the outskirts of Ostrava. Overalls, smith's trousers, and a worn shirt—that's Johan. He is happy when he can step out into the garden, where he keeps goldfish in a pond and cools beer that he drinks with Truda. However, their peaceful life is disrupted by the construction of a cable car that is to connect the former industrial area of Dolní Vítkovice with Mount Landek. Johan's daughter returns home after a divorce, and Truda's son also visits more often, whose wife, the chairwoman of the Polish separatist party Liga Slezska, was mysteriously murdered. The distinctive world of Hlučínsko is also illustrated by the Prajz dialect.
