Description
Jewish gangster. Polish hell. Warsaw 1937. Everything begins in a crowded hall, where an enthusiastic audience watches a boxing match. The fight is for the title of Warsaw champion. Polish fans support the falangist Andrzej Ziembiński, while cheers for the Makabi Warsaw club fighter Jakub Šapir echo from the Jewish stands. This evening belongs to him. Amidst the cheers of some and the whistles of others, seventeen-year-old Mojše Bernštajn and the socialist and king of the Warsaw underworld, Godfather Kaplica, watch Šapir's triumph. Forty years later in Tel Aviv, a retired soldier leans over a typewriter to reminisce about the evening he first saw the handsome and confident boxer in the ring. At that time, however, he had no idea that it was Šapir, Kaplica's right-hand man, who killed his father in 1937, and he was completely unaware of how much one evening and a meeting with Godfather Kaplica would change his life...
