Description
In a psychological thriller by the author of the novel Blind, a prominent criminal defense attorney is himself accused of murder. Successful Manhattan lawyer Peter Caine represents murderers, pedophiles, and rapists without remorse. He is used to winning in the courtroom: he sacrifices everything for his work and desire to succeed, including his relationship with his girlfriend and teenage son. When his former lover Charlie Doyle is murdered, his life is turned upside down. Charlie was the stepdaughter of New York District Attorney Harrison Doyle, who once managed to defeat Peter in court and is now convinced that his former rival is behind his daughter's murder. Moreover, a number of pieces of evidence support this belief. Peter desperately tries to prove his innocence while realizing that those closest to him can hurt him the most. The truth about Charlie Doyle's murder is much more twisted and sinister than anyone would dare to imagine...
