This Czech-language book focuses mainly on the Favorit, the first mass-produced Škoda car with front-wheel drive, developed in close cooperation with the Italian coachbuilder Bertone and Porsche’s development centre and presented to the public in September 1987 at the engineering trade fair in Brno. It recalls the model’s complicated creation and its role in the modern transformation of the Mladá Boleslav carmaker, which became the fourth brand of the Volkswagen Group in April 1991. The book clearly charts the changes to the Škoda Favorit, Forman and Pick-up during their active careers from 1987 to 1995, along with their many variants and projects that never reached production. Motor-racing enthusiasts will find an overview of activities involving modified Škoda Favorit cars in rallies, circuit races and hill climbs. The text includes technical data for the individual models and production and export summaries, accompanied by 430 archive photographs, many of them previously unpublished.
