Description
The seemingly calm atmosphere of the picturesque town of Wane in the state of Washington is disrupted by a dramatic video circulating among its residents. It captures a group of students on a bus, shuttling between today's Wane and the original "Old Wane," abandoned after the gold rush faded. An out-of-control bus falls into a ravine, and in the subsequent explosion, everyone perishes. Seventeen-year-old Jonah, the narrator of the story and one of the protagonists in the video, is clear: it's a deepfake, nothing like this ever happened. But why does the video feature their former group, which fell apart a year ago due to disagreements after one of its members, Enya, went missing? Enya, to whom Jonah was very close, is the only one missing from the video.
Gradually, more fake videos begin to appear, in which individual members of the former group reveal their dark secrets that the others had no idea about. As it soon becomes clear, these deepfakes are based on the truth. A truth that only Enya knew.
