The technology of thermoplastic injection, with all its modifications, has a fundamental and irreplaceable significance among processing technologies in the plastics industry. The principle of how plastic injection technology works is essentially simple. The required dose of the processed material in the form of polymer melt is injected from the plasticizing chamber of the injection machine into the closed cavity of the injection mold using a screw or a piston. Subsequently, due to heat removal, the melt solidifies, and the injection is removed from the mold cavity for possible further processing.

The author's latest work attempts to contribute to the qualification of all those involved in the production process of thermoplastic injections. It summarizes the complete spectrum of knowledge about thermoplastic injection, detailed in previous publications, and emphasizes key topics: conditions for plastics suitable for injection, characteristic temperatures of polymers, rheology of polymer melts, physical processes occurring in polymers during their processing by injection, phases of the injection process, procedures for producing the first injections, optimization of the injection process, evaluation of injection quality, and troubleshooting in thermoplastic injection.
