Description
Hana Kušiaková Pafková, an actress with Sklep Theatre, has lived with bipolar disorder throughout her life. In this prose work, she reveals her authentic experience of the mental illness and opens up a subject that remains taboo in society. The book combines retrospective narration, diary entries and texts written under the influence of the illness. The author, who is also an experienced translator, describes the subject in an engaging style, with exaggeration and humour, making the book appealing even to readers without direct experience of bipolar disorder. It also includes an extensive interview with psychiatrist, university professor and director of the National Institute of Mental Health Jiří Horáček. The book is in Czech.
