Intestinální rehabilitace, transplantace a související výkony (2026)

This Czech-language medical book focuses on the clinical practice of doctors involved in perioperative and postoperative care for patients undergoing major digestive-tract surgery and reconstruction after abdominal catastrophes. It also addresses the long-term care of patients with intestinal failure. Comprehensive prehabilitation aims to prepare patients for major procedures in cardiac surgery, pulmonary surgery, transplant medicine and other fields. Metabolic intensive care and the algorithm of intestinal rehabilitation and prehabilitation are highly complex processes. Their implementation and coordination represent an innovative approach that does not yet have a defined place in the Czech Republic and seeks to improve patient prognosis. The book is based on the functioning system at IKEM, where the individual components of the intestinal rehabilitation and prehabilitation algorithm are already established, including anaesthesiology, surgery, the nutrition centre, the home parenteral nutrition centre, pharmacology, microbiology and gastroenterology. It presents management as a coordinated process with a timeline, in which every step requires a precise procedure to maintain continuity of care, and highlights the essential role of the clinical coordinator. It also covers current management of home parenteral nutrition, including the indispensable role of home parenteral nutrition nurses in care and coordination, from indication and education through inpatient and outpatient care to programme logistics. The book serves as a practical guide for many clinical fields caring for the most complex patients and complements existing publications on intestinal failure. It is intended for gastroenterologists, anaesthesiologists, intensivists, surgeons and nurses, including those working in home health care.
