This monograph focuses on health literacy in the context of nursing, whose importance and need for support are steadily increasing. It presents the characteristics, significance, model, dimensions, and determinants of health literacy, as well as assessment tools and specific aspects affecting different target groups. In relation to the nurse’s role in promoting health literacy, it examines education, communication, personal example, the influence of the environment, and the use of information and communication technologies. It also addresses health literacy as part of nursing education.
