Description
The book addresses the topic of human psychology in relation to oncological diseases. Psycho-oncology represents a complex and interdisciplinary discipline; it is an applied field of psychology. The book does not aim to cover the entire breadth of the field. It was created as an introduction to this important topic, which will become increasingly common in the offices of doctors, nurses, psychologists, and helping professions in general. As the incidence of cancer in the population rises and as we are able to help an increasing number of people, it logically follows that more will open up related psychological topics. The book attempts to capture the psychological reactions of individuals in connection with the arrival of oncological disease into their lives. It does not limit itself to the patient but also considers the experiences, thoughts, and behaviors of their loved ones and healthcare professionals. Currently, there are over 600,000 people in the Czech Republic who have survived oncological diseases. Practice shows that practically every psychologist or doctor encounters people who have gone through or are going through cancer in their practice. However, not everyone knows how to behave in such a situation, what would help the sick person, or how to support them. The book is intended for all doctors—not just oncologists—who encounter or will encounter the topic of oncology...
