Description
The publication describes the care of patients suffering from dementia in the specific environment of long-term care facilities (LDN). The author draws from the real care system in the Czech Republic and focuses on the therapeutic vacuum within this system. It addresses the possibilities, risks, and legislative limitations related to the provided care. The complexity of care primarily aimed at patients suffering from degenerative diseases is a multidisciplinary problem for helping professions. An analysis of the fundamental areas of the issue leads to a key understanding of degenerative diseases and their pitfalls for both the patient and the caregiver. There are plenty of books on the general topic of caring for patients with dementia on our market, but they usually relate to diagnosis and therapy and are intended for healthcare personnel. Another group of publications touches on social care and targets social workers, family members, or the individuals suffering from dementia themselves. However, many of these books are translations from foreign originals, reflecting care systems applied abroad, not in the Czech Republic. This book, however, is based directly on the environment of domestic LDN, making it valuable.
