Description
The first part of the book Repairs of Historical Buildings, subtitled Myths, Legends, and Reality, published in 2021, was intended to provide a thoughtful approach to the repair of historical buildings. We wanted to assist those who restore old houses with understanding historical constructions and craftsmanship techniques and to highlight the differences between old construction methods and modern technologies. The second part is primarily dedicated to arches, which represent the pinnacle of architecture and building art; at the same time, we want to show that building art is fundamental to culture and predates written history – its exploration can be a discovery of a long-lost Atlantis. Both parts have the same layout, are interconnected, and share common indexes and a list of utilized and recommended literature. The second part includes references to illustrations and texts from the first part.
