The monograph by an experienced author collective provides a comprehensive view of the polymorbid patient from both a general perspective and the perspective of individual specialties (primary care, intensive medicine, geriatrics, internal medicine, surgery, and others). The issue of multimorbidity and related polypharmacy is and will be the daily bread of work primarily for general practitioners, internists, and all other specialties. ***** The dominant focus of the publication is on geriatric patients with all their specifics (frailty, loss of independence, changes in pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, risk of falls), but the issue of polymorbidity also concerns younger patients, for whom the situation is often different – they are generally in better overall condition and more independent.
