Every dog deserves a second chance. Stella is trained from puppyhood to use her brilliant beagle nose to detect dangerous chemicals and help keep people safe alongside her handler. But during a routine security check, Stella fails to notice the smell of an explosive. A terrifying, deafening blast leaves her so traumatized that she can no longer return to work, ending her career as a service dog. When a girl named Emilia takes her in, Stella knows this is her last chance to prove what she can do. One day, she detects a strange smell coming from Emilia that grows stronger just before the girl has an epileptic seizure. Stella’s nose recognizes the connection, but how can she warn her new family next time without making them think she is simply having another panic attack?
