Global pandemics, extreme weather, and massive wildfires define our era, which is also referred to as the Anthropocene. Ailton Krenak hails from Brazil, where he is regarded as an important voice for indigenous peoples. He demonstrates how the current environmental crisis is rooted in a somewhat misguided notion of the concept of humanity – we think that human beings are superior to other forms of nature and therefore can exploit them at will. To stop the environmental catastrophe, we must, according to Krenak, reject the consequences of this superior perspective and embrace a new form of dreaming that allows us to rediscover our place in nature.
