Trauma u dětí - Kategorie, projevy a specifika odborné péče – Jochmannová Leona (2021)

This Czech-language professional book examines childhood trauma, its categories and manifestations, and the specific nature of professional care. Experiences from childhood remain stored deep within the body and mind. They can be suppressed, and feelings or even memories can be manipulated, but they cannot be erased. Understanding them is essential, as professional help can then make it possible to address them and find ways forward. Drawing on more than twenty years of experience working with children, the author presents the current diagnostic classification of trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder. She discusses the latest findings on the neurobiological connections of traumatic experiences, describes various approaches to therapeutic care for children, and examines the risks of psychotherapy. The book also compares healthcare, education and social care systems from these perspectives. Frequent diagnostic errors are linked to the broad range, variability and overlap of symptoms, which can develop into emotional, cognitive and physical difficulties. It is intended for everyone who comes into contact with trauma in children, especially psychologists, paediatricians, social workers and educators.
