The updated edition of the successful book responds to advancements in personal air transport and aircraft construction. It captures innovations such as the use of lighter materials in aircraft construction that reduce weight, changes simplifying air traffic control, and further improvements in engine efficiency, leading to shorter flight times and lower fuel consumption. As a result, costs are decreasing, making tickets cheaper, and having a more favorable impact on ecology. The author of the book, a commercial pilot, also points out the changes that have occurred in the cockpit since the first edition of the book, where instead of the previously common printed manuals and paper maps, screens of monitors now flash. And of course, it answers a number of questions such as: Are turbulence dangerous? What happens if the engine suddenly stops? How much fuel does the aircraft consume? What happens to the aircraft when we fly into a storm? What are all those lights on the runway for? To make the answers clearer, the book contains a large number of color photographs, diagrams, and graphs, from which the new developments in aviation are quite evident. Julien Evans flies as a captain for Britannia Airways on international routes with Boeing 757 and 767 aircraft.
