Description
This book is intended for all theorists and practitioners of social work and others in helping professions, aiding in the enhancement of practice through a deeper understanding of one's own personality and the mechanisms of dealing with knowledge and emotions in social work with families. The book offers the first comprehensive and research-based perspective on the topic of reflexivity in the Czech Republic and will support readers in the conscious use of empowering and effective approaches in client work. Chapters dedicated to the theoretical grounding of the topic define the term 'reflexivity' in relation to other concepts such as 'reflectivity', 'critical thinking', 'deconstruction', and 'metacognition'. The text also focuses on the dynamism of reflexivity in its levels, cycles, and depth. A special section is allocated to the advantages and limits of reflexivity compared to evidence-based approaches. Furthermore, the text addresses the definition of reflexivity as: a project of (re)construction of the social worker's self, the ability to (re)construct knowledge, and the tools for (re)constructing emotions. The final part of the book is dedicated to research on the formation and functioning of reflexivity in Czech social work with families. Kateřina Glumbíková is a researcher and assistant professor at the Faculty of Social Studies at the University of Ostrava...
