Just like in other medical fields, surgery is undergoing rapid changes, primarily due to the development of instrumentation, electronic technology, and robotics, as well as the discovery of new medications. These changes often radically alter long-established procedures and, in many cases, fundamentally change the philosophy of approaching surgical patients and their illnesses. Modern surgery adapts flexibly to these trends; however, the basic surgical procedures, approaches, and postulates often remain unchanged for centuries. In particular, access to electronic media offers today's medical students an overwhelming amount of information from various sources, which can simultaneously be a trap and a handicap due to the disorganization and excess of information, or conversely, the superficiality and simplification of the provided data. The aim of this publication is to unify the basic facts and information about the field of surgery, so that it provides the necessary information to students without overwhelming them with information bias. Propedeutics means 'pre-education', and thus this textbook should open a window for students into the world of surgical fields, allowing them to build on the knowledge they acquire in the coming years of study and deepen it further.
