The publication addresses the issue of intensive care in midwifery and provides a comprehensive overview of both acute gynecological care and acute obstetric care, from the perspective of the work of midwives and nurses in the intensive care unit of gynecology and obstetrics. The first, main part deals with defining the concept of the field of intensive care in midwifery, organization, quality, hygiene-epidemiological regime, medical devices, ethical aspects, and communication in intensive care units with patients and their family members. Part of this chapter is also dedicated to the issue of septic conditions, terminology and pathophysiology, and the prevention of septic conditions. The second part discusses the specifics of intensive care for women with gynecological diseases in preoperative and postoperative care, focusing on diagnostic methods, monitoring, management and care for invasive inputs, nutrition in intensive care, oxygen therapy, and artificial ventilation, elimination methods including comprehensive care for women in intensive care.
