The successful publication has been continuously updated – particularly the chapters concerning urgent geriatrics, pharmacotherapy of urgent conditions, working with the deceased (within forensic issues), as well as organization and management have been added (or completely revised). Emergency medicine encompasses pre-hospital emergency care, early hospital care, and preparedness for dealing with extraordinary events. All doctors, whether working in emergency medical services or in emergency departments, must adopt a broad differential diagnostic perspective on the patient, an approach based on the leading symptom, and constant reassessment of priorities. It is precisely this comprehensive approach to the issues and contextualization that helps to understand this publication.
