ADHD in adult patients and clients in addiction treatment (in the context of dual diagnoses, their diagnosis, and therapy) is becoming an increasingly significant clinical and research topic. It is gradually becoming clear that it likely contributes not only to a significant increase in certain types of addictions but also to a multitude of complications, conflicts, or dangerous situations during the diagnostic and treatment process. It increases the risk of premature dropout from treatment and poses a greater burden on both the clients and patients themselves and the staff. The book is based on the results of one of the largest clinical projects in Europe, which focused on adult clients undergoing treatment in therapeutic communities for addiction. It summarizes current knowledge on the epidemiology, etiology, and clinical picture of ADHD. At the same time, it presents available tools for diagnosis (for the first time, it also discusses the DIVA 2.0 tool in the Czech language), experiences from treatment, and managing this dual diagnosis in addiction treatment programs.
