The third edition of the popular textbook has been expanded to include new economic phenomena triggered by technological and institutional changes. It also outlines the schools of thought that complement traditional microeconomic analysis with alternative perspectives and approaches. This includes behavioral and feminist economics, as well as the economics of time and quasi-economics in the form of 'the economics of everything' (freakonomics). The authors also unusually focus on family economics, which has been overlooked in textbooks, contrasting it with the significant attention given to firm economics. The publication explains the behavior of micro-units that make up the national and global economy, such as consumers, firms, owners of capital and land, employees and unions, investors, and politicians. It also explains the mechanisms of markets for consumer goods, labor, capital, and natural resources, as well as the political market. Both the advantages of market regulation and some of its limitations are shown. In this context, the role of government in the microeconomic sphere and the possibilities of its failure are highlighted.
