The book is a source of valuable information for students and educators in the fields of general nursing, intensive care nursing, healthcare assistance, and practical nursing. The publication is intended for all nurses working in intensive care environments, as well as those caring for acutely ill patients in other nursing units. In addition to introductory chapters that describe patient care upon admission to the intensive care unit, transfer to another department, or discharge to home care, the author primarily describes the basics and specifics of intensive nursing care for patients according to individual body systems. She also addresses specialized nursing procedures during both invasive and non-invasive monitoring, intravenous medication administration, airway management, parenteral nutrition, and other activities. The author draws from her experiences in the ICU as well as from studying Czech and foreign literature while writing the book.
