Description
Recently, while repairing old buildings, I have increasingly encountered opinions on solving specific problems that are misguided, detrimental to the construction, and often do not even comply with the laws of physics. Many people are repairing their old houses (often on their own), and this creates a field for the emergence and spread of amateur solutions. People are more likely to consult a neighbor or social media than an expert. This is not just a contemporary issue; even in the 1st century AD, the classic of construction and architecture, Vitruvius, wrote: "... no one attempts to practice any other art at home, such as shoemaking, fulling, or any of the others that are perhaps easier, except for construction..." Therefore, I decided to write a book in which I would like to utilize my long-standing experience with the repair and restoration of old buildings and attempt to highlight the misconceptions we encounter. I believe this book will help you avoid the mistakes I have made (and perhaps still make) as well.
