Description
The textbook Environmental Chapters is designed for intermediate and advanced English language students, primarily for self-learners. (European Language Reference Framework: C1) The specialized language of the textbook is based on authentic ecological texts, both general (ecosystems, global warming, acid rain, waste management, nuclear waste disposal, alternative energy sources, natural disasters...) and specific (the Chernobyl and Fukushima nuclear power plant accidents, nuclear waste storage in Montana, Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, 'killer smog' in Pennsylvania, the collapse of civilization on Easter Island...). Each chapter has a fixed scheme of fill-in-the-blank, transformation, and translation exercises and includes a grammar section with explanations and practice. A key is provided for all exercises in the textbook. The last chapter is dedicated to presentations in English.
