Description
For two years, the authors collected stories from women who have a strained relationship with their mothers. There are many such women. In childhood, they longed for love, understanding, and tenderness. In vain. They struggle with their wounds throughout their lives and are ashamed to talk about them. They suffer even in adulthood, although they are often beautiful, successful, and have already brought another generation into the world. Instead of love and acceptance, their mothers offered them eternal criticism, belittling of their achievements, and competitive struggles. The idea of love remained distorted for them, and their other relationships reflect that. With the help of advice from psychologists, therapists, as well as through fairy tales, myths, and archetypes, the authors attempted to find solutions on how to emerge from the dark prison of the rejected and unloved daughter.
