Person-centred planning and thinking offer ways to listen to people, understand what matters to them from their own perspective, strengthen their networks of positive relationships and valued social roles, and ultimately support their social inclusion. They are particularly useful in complex situations where standard, ready-made solutions are not enough and an individual strategy must be developed for a particular person, diverse resources activated, and an alliance built among people working towards positive change in that person’s life. The book is intended for professionals in social services who want to move beyond a purely administrative approach and make their interventions genuinely effective, giving disadvantaged people a chance to live better lives within networks of positive relationships and attain socially valued roles.
