A silent book is an illustrated storybook without text, based solely on pictures. It is a book with a simple story that carries only illustrations. The absence of words encourages the voice. Thus, the book offers children and their parents the joy of telling their own story, which can be a little different each time. It provides space to think together about the book, uncover the essence of the story, search for details, and put their thoughts into words. This type of book leads children to sequential and contextual thinking, the development of an active vocabulary, independent expression, and helps create a lively relationship between the reader (child, parent) and the book itself.
The book won the Children's Readers' Award in the prestigious Silent Book Contest 2004, an international competition dedicated to wordless books.
