He heard the call to become a priest at the swimming pool. Three years after his ordination, he signed Charter 77. He lost state approval, yet continued to celebrate Mass, for which he received a six-month suspended sentence. In the early 70s, he joined the Jesuits, but left them by the end of the 70s. He earned his living with his hands. After November 1989, he became a pastor in Železnice, near Jičín, where he still creates a vibrant parish community. In nearby Valdice, he serves as a prison chaplain. As a pilgrim, he completed a 3,000-kilometer journey from Železnice to Santiago de Compostela. Josef Kordík (*1948) – a priest who doesn't fit into boxes. "An original who never chose anything easy," as Dana Němcová said about him. The book consists of an extensive interview with Josef Kordík, several interviews with people close to him, and some of his own texts.
